Jul. 27th, 2004 04:15 pmMy mother, younger sister and I just saw I, Robot. It was surprisingly good, considering how much I hated the previews for it. The writers/director stayed amazing true to the spirit of Asimov's robot books without being slavishly devoted to them, and managed to get in tons of little things that enhanced the experience. I was particularly impressed by how they neatly introduced the extrapolation of the Zeroth Law, as well as how dangerous its implications are.
Based on the previews, I *really* want to see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and Ray.
Today's Ozy and Millie really strikes home. I'm becoming really bothered by how my businesses want extraneous personal information before they'll sell me something. Aside from Radio Shack, the barber shop I go to (Great Clips) requests (but doesn't require, thankfully) your phone number, and I once had a Fry's checkout person request my driver's liscence number for a cash purchase. Big Brother style tracking doesn't sit well with me, kiddies. Quit it.
