Jun. 20th, 2004 03:26 pmI just saw "The Chronicles of Riddick", and I have to agree with
blufiction. The movie is okay but not spectacular as a stand-alone. But it works much better if you realize that they (Diesel & the producers) are trying to establish the groundwork for movie series ala "Star Wars".
But I do have some questions about the movie:
Who thought that Lord Vacco would look good with a hairstyle that managed to combine all the worst qualities of cornrows, a mullet, and a Marine-style "high and tight" buzzcut? The man might be "evil", but he shows a sense of honor, true faith in his cause and a (twisted) moral code, which is more than can be said of most villains. The man doesn't deserve the onus of that haircut!
And is BDSM really going to be that popular in the future? I mean, the visual theme of the movie seemed to be "black leather, metal spikes, and whip & bondage subtext".
On the other hand, I liked the effects they used on Arion and the High Marshall.
EDIT: fixed the misspelled username for
