Jericho 1.16: Winter's End
Mar. 28th, 2007 08:00 pmPreviously: April is pregnant, Heather runs windmills, Hawkette TOTALLY shot someone
Hawkins appears to have plenty of experience cleaning up after a murder. Why am I not at all surprised.
We have a new (sorta) doctor. Just in time for April's pregnancy to go all ker-flooey! What? You know that's going to happen. Hell, it's in the episode description.
So Gray's still on his "kick out keep tabs on the refugees" kick. Wonder how Hawkins is going to talk his way out of that one.
TIIIIIIIIMBER! April goes down right on schedule!
Wow, what a weak, obviously made-up story. I mean, it's crappy enough that Jimmy noticed.
Maybe an ultrasound machine survived the EMP in the basement? Is this thing magic or something?
Okay, so there's the first windmill, ut where the hell's Heather? She's totally slave-slash-whore labor, isn't she?
Hey! Bonnie! Long time, no see, hon! I really like the interactions between her and Mimi.
Heh. Mimi is trying hard to get along with Bonnie and Bonnie is just not having it.
Okay, I know nothing about whether or not a 10% alcohol drip really would stop contractions, but even if it does, I SERIOUSLY doubt that the stuff coming straight out of a still would be appropriate. And of course April is bleeding out. It wouldn't be dramatic if the pregnancy/birth wasn't as traumatic as possible.
Gee. Aren't the writers wonderful for showing us what awful people Eric and Mary are for not being there during April's medical crisis? You know, aside from the fact that neither had any reason to know that today would be the Day Of Drama and they're legitimately gathering needed firewood.
Hey, Dr. Kenchy! Welcome back from the bar! Your doctor instincts override your alcoholism, which is nice to see. And of course Mimi and Bonnie would get caught up in the drama.
Wait, "buy more windmills"? I thought that the two towns had a deal where they were sharing resources? And as much as I want to like Dale, I hate this storyline he's trapped in.
See, Jimmy is checking up on Hawkins' stupid cover story.
Oh, so Dale's storyline is supposed to be a minor parallel for the trade situation between Newburn and Jericho. They're both going to be stupidly resolved, aren't they.
Dr. K's PTSD is kicking in again. Can't really blame him, though.
Actually, how the hell did that ultrasound machine survive? Not counting deus ex machina, which is actually kind of apt in this situation.
It's about time that Mimi started to learn ASL.
Dale's going hunting again, isn't he. And this time, he gets to drag along his common-law wife! So... bets on which one of them dies?
Poor Bonnie. She's right about about being on the outside looking in.
And here's Bill with the first of the Disapproving Glares.
Oh, Stanley, please don't start a war with the next town over. We don't want Heather to become a hostage.
Hawkins really doesn't get the fact that Darcy really, really doesn't like him. And Jimmy's certainly picking up on it.
TENSE! MEDICAL! DRAMA! Should I start caring yet? And hey, what family medical drama can't be made more uncomfortable by introducing the mistress onto the scene?
Okay, so this can only go one of two ways: Baby Greene miraculously survives to become the Symbol Of Hope for the town or April gets to be all tragic and consumptive about losing the baby for the rest of the season/series. Actually, I bet that April dies and Eric fights is out with Mama on who gets to raise Miracle Baby.
Well. It's good to see that Dale's time with the Ass Bandits taught him some useful extortion skills.
Aww... no Miracle Baby. I notice that the issue of April's survival wasn't addressed.
Okay, so Jimmy's suspicions were actually focused on Sara, not Hawkins. So close, yet so far.
Yup. Hostage situation. What do you want to bet that Dale ends up being one of the 10?
C'mon, we are so seeing the turbine power up the hospital just in time to save April. Nice to see someone call Jake on the BS he spouts, though.
Good God, but that's a lot of candles around April's bed. I'd say that they were setting up a shrine, but I've seen how extravagantly they burn candles in that town. There's a secret candle mine right next to the salt mine, isn't there.
Ah. that little pre-break tableau looked a LOT like a Renaissance painting. Nice use of light.
Hawkins, Hawkins, Hawkins... When are you going to learn that it isn't. About. What. You. Want.
Mimi and Bonnie are finally starting to connect.
Aww,... post-extortionary cuddling is adorable! ::retch:: Do these two not realize what a sangerous position they've just put themselves in?
Um, Gray? If these people are supposed to be the only ones who know what's really going on, you shouldn't be discussing it in the middle of the fucking street!
Stanley's kind of dim, but he loves the people he loves and will do what he needs to for them.
Eric, meanwhile, is going on a mission of expiation. It's his turn to be the prodigal, I guess.
Hey, someone finally remembered Heather! It's only as an adjunct to getting back The Men Of Jericho, but still.
Next week: Assaulting the refugees who've holed up in the church. No, that's not reinforcing the whole Lost Tribe OfIsrael America vibe at all.
