Lost: "Numbers"

...And no, we don't mean that other show.
Previously: Locke and Boone obsess over a door into the bowels of the Earth, and Sayid gets funky with a loony. Let's move on to:
The relationship between Hurley, Jin, and Michael is interesting to watch. As I've said elsewhere, Hurley smooths things down everywhere he goes.
Sayid? Admit that you're afraid of the voice, and let the others go visit Crazyland on their own.
Hurley is focusing on those numbers pretty hard. Is he a math genius or something?
Oh. Rousseou's numbers are the same ones he used to win the lotto. Not a good sign.
Oh, Hurley. You're such a bad liar.
Oh no. Tito's about to die, isn't he? Yup. Crap.
SUCH a bad liar.
Dammit, Locke! Leave the nice pregnant lady alone! She doesn't remember how flarking creepy you are!
This has a whole "doomed soldier saying goodbye to his wife before heading off to war" vibe to it.
I like Hurley's mom. :)
Yeah. The money's cursed. That, or the island is pulling Hurley to the Doom Flight. After all, everyone's backstory seems to subtly indicate that they were forced or pulled onto the Doom Flight. Poor Hurley.
Hurley owns Locke's company?! That's kinda cool.
Okay, so what do the numbers signify? Are they some sort of code?
Gods. Sun is just stunningly gorgeous.
"I'm spry." Hee! I like Hurley. A lot.
And the surly Iraqi who's afraid of his voices is in the lead. Greeeeat
So Hurley got his numbers from ONE crazy and now finds them confirmed by ANOTHER crazy. Yeah, that's not spooky at all. Why does this make me think that Hurley is somehow more tightly connected to the island than we know? A subtle connection, to be sure, but no less present than that of Locke or Claire or Walt.
Whoa. Hurley broke through the shell of crazy into the creamy center of insanity. And of course the numbers originated in Australia. Where else would they be from?
Nice ravine. Cool bridge, too. But only one support/handrail is bad design. But the creaking rope makes for a great "suspense" sound.
Ooooh, that was NOT the right thing to say, Charlie.
My goodness, but that house is in the middle of fuckin' nowhere, isn't it.
So the numbers came from somewhere in the Pacific. 16 years ago. ::sigh:: The island has a long, long reach.
Well. Let's hope that Hurley doesn't follow his predecessor's example.
At least Claire is somewhat suspicious of Locke. And notice that Locke didn't answer her "this is for... animals, right?" question.
And now we see the real reason that Locke invited her. He needs another convert.
And I can't believe that they're not watching where they step. I mean, it's not like they've seen at least 3 other ground traps.
JEEZ! So even MENTIONING the numbers is bad luck.
Aaaaaaand here's Scary French Lady.
Hurley snaps but good, don't he. He brings up some good points about the unseeked answers, too.
Hurley and Rousseou are bonding over bad lcuk numbers. Hurley really does manage to connect with everyone.
Charlie manafes to lose people rather easily, doesn't he?
::snerk:: Hurley just showed up the Hero Squad!
And thank the Lord that Hurley didn't die. I would have been QUITE mad if he had.
They made a "we shall never speak of this" pact on the way back, didn't they?
Happy Birthday, Claire! If we'd known, we would've baked a fish for you!
Is that the Cradle of Blood from Claire's dream?
Huh. Is Hurley the first person the Charlie has voluntarily revealed his addiction to?
Poor Hurley. The only one to believe him about anything is Danielle. (They're on a first name basis now, doncha know.)
Okay, so the numbers are 4 8 15 16 23 42. The flight was Oceanic 815 and the box number of Kate's bank stickup was 815. 42 is the answer to Life, The Universe, and Everything. 42 is (I believe) also the current number of crash survivors. The numbers are rather glaringly important, and the fanbase is about to go insane trying to figure out how.
Also, were the numbers embossed above some airholes, like in an animal cage, or was it just dirt? Because we might now have a psuedo-plausible explanation for the presence of the polar bears.
Next week, on Lost: rerun of the Ethanator.
