Feb. 3rd, 2005 05:49 pmMy sister Sara's fiancé, Michael, was hired by L3 this week, and put Sara on his health plan. So they now have 2 steady incomes and benefits! I'm glad for them.
They had to postpone the wedding because of the situation with Grandma, but Michael's father is (as I understand it) giving them a house for a wedding present. This isn't quite as extravagant as it seems, since Michael's dad buys, renovates, and resells houses for a living, and Michael and Sara would take on the mortgage payments, but it's still an incredible gift.
Anyway, with the official hiring, Michael is already moving some of his would-be-in-storage-anyway stuff over to the house prior to the wedding. I think that he's going to move in with Sara and I until the house is officially theirs, but I'm not sure. In any case, Sara will be moving out of the apartment within the next few months, and I need to start looking for a new roommate, since there's no way I can afford this place by myself on my current income.
I've been lucky in the past; I started off in a 1-bedroom and moved in with a FoaF (friend of a friend) when his old roommate (my cousin's boyfriend at the time) moved out. Then FoaF moved out & Sara moved in, and now we're here at the new apartment. So I don't really have any experience with roommate-hunting.
Frankly, my ideal solution would be to keep the apartment by myself, but see above comment re: not enough income. ::sigh:: Life's complicated, isn't it?
