Okay, mein freunds, I have a question for you:

What cell phone company would you recommend I do/don't get? My current phone is reaching the end of its shelf life and as near as I can tell, the stripped-down plan I currently have is actually more expensive than some other more fully loaded plans out there. So. Who do you think I should go with?

As much as I hate to say it, Sprint. Cheaper unlimited everything plans, and the phones choices are decent. Just make sure to get the equipment protection insurance because sooner or later you will drop your phone in a pool, run over it with a chair, etc. The equipment insurance is like $5 a month and they will fix your phone. If you kill your phone due to negligence it would just cost ya $50 to replace it. I use Sprint and have the Instinct phone and find it pretty nifty. Does everything an Iphone will do with the exception of charging you for apps when you hit a button :P

Criket has a cheap month to month plan, but not the greatest phones. T-Mobile has the new G2 phone which is really nice, but I think there is a contract with it. Cingular has a pre-paid plan, and decent phones, but it is like $1 a day to use it, plus minutes. I guess it depends on if you use your phone a lot, more in your relative vicinity, or travel a lot, and whether you want to carry a 2 year contract. You could always get an 2nd gen I phone and make Matt Jealous!

Stay the hell away from Verizon. I have never had so much trouble with a cell phone carrier in my life. The service itself is great, but every month my bill is screwed up. I get charged for talking to people in the verizon network. Its been a hell of a mess.

My history's not too extensive. I've had a phone on a Sprint sub-carrier (Helio) and T-Mobile. Though I've got friends with them across the board.

Over all, I really recommend T-Mobile, though in your area you should be able to get Cricket at stellar plan prices. Though they tend to not be well serviced if you leave major cities.
