My CD-ROM crapped out this afternoon, so I head over to Fry's and pick up a new one for $40. I come home, install it, connect everything back up, and turn it on. While I'm waiting for it to power up, I head over to the trash to throw away the packing trash, when I hear a loud *POP* and turn around to see a puff of smoke coming out of my open computer case. After some frantic disconnecting of cables and opening of windows, I inspect everything, and come to the conclusion that my power supply just died. Fucking great. I got a new monitor Tuesday for $115, I got a new CD-ROM TODAY for $40, and now I need a new power supply. Is this my Murphy's way of telling me to quit while I'm behind?

The apartment smells like electric death and cupcakes.
