Jericho 1.12: The Day Before

Previously: Hawkins gets threatened! Sorta!
Jake looks better clean-shaven. And who, exactly, is surprised to find out that Jake worked for Ravenwood? Anyone? Anyone?
Hawkins had a GIRLfriend! Hawkins had a GIRLfriend! Or collaborator/sex partner. Whichever.
So the apocalypse is being sponsored by U-Haul?
Jeez! Are the streets in Jericho ALWAYS wet?
Writers? We get it. Soon-to-be-ex-mayor Green is a crusty old fart.
Mama Green: strong-willed, concerned wife or masterful murderess? You decide!
Okay, so Jake has a never before seen buddy with a history together. He is SO dead before the end of the episode.
Wow. Hawkins must have really crappy security on his computer. I mean, first his girlfriend, then his daughter can get full access in a matter of moments.
Oh good lord. Could the writers be setting up Best Bud to die any more obviously? New fiance, upcoming wedding, dark and mysterious past with Our Scruffy Hero... Dude. Is. Toast.
You know, I'm really not sensing any chemistry between Emily and Roger. Not that she and Jake have any either. Hey! It's the Sexual-Tension-Free Love Triangle!
Wow. Jake is a really crappy friend. Aaand, there's another couple of nails in Best Bud's coffin.
I'm so not surprised that Darcy has/had a restraining order against Hawkins. I mean, he's only controlling, violent, obsessive, possessive and threatening. What's not to love?
Rather not surprised that Jake doesn't think ahead.
Um, April? if you're trying to be furtive (and failing, by the way), pulling out your divorce papers in the middle of a busy street in a small town is almost exactly the dead opposite of what you should be doing.
I really do like Mimi more when the writers don't put her in Sophisticated City Bitch mode. Although I do like her "seriously. Don't talk to me." line to Stanley.
For trying to keep their relationship on the downlow, Eric and Mary are rather bad at actually hiding their trysts, aren't they?
What's with this neuveau cuisine shit that Mama Green is putting ahead of Johnston? He needs to eat healthier, sure, but starving him? Hmm... maybe she wants his weight down so she can use a smaller dose of poison.
Hawkins is rather self-delusional, ain't he? You haven't seen your "family" in years and expect, nay, DEMAND them to trust you implicitly?
Well, we're pretty much guaranteed to see these government people later on in Jericho, aren't we?
Wait, so the people who ransacked Hawkins' place and presumably took his girlfriend didn't take the computer. Not suspicious at all.
Hawkins is rather blase about the cops. I wonder how long it'll take him to kill them. Not long at all, I see.
So Mayor Green wants to step down without actually letting Eric have any power over his own life. And yet he wonders why Eric doesn't share with him more.
This week's episode is about to start, so I'll come back and finish this later.
