Heroes 1.15: Run!

First of all, I'm insanely grateful that NBC lets you watch the latest episode online, since my VCR recorded the wrong freaking channel! Anyhoo, with no further ado:
Previously: Hiro gets questing, Jessica gets loose, Matt gets suspended, Claire gets disillusioned, Mama Bennet gets mind-wiped (again, some more), Firemommy gets evasive
Nathan looks really nervous, and with good reason. It looks like Firemommy is a bit of an extortionist. Poor Claire... all her parents, both adoptive and biological, are screwed up.
So the implication is that the Haitian Sensation erases memories by actually burning them out of the brain, resulting in brain damage. And since Mama Bennet seems to be the one who's been mind-wiped the most repeatedly... Poor lady. :-(
Okay, so Jessica knows about the tattoo difference between her and Niki and is covering for it. I still want to know why only Jessica has it.
I know that cops often get private security jobs for when they're off-duty because the regular pay is a joke. Is that how Matt got this one so fast? I mean, I assume that he's working for a security company of some kind rather than just freelancing.
Fighting crime? Oh, naive Micah... your parents, your mother in particular, are committed to, well, COMMITTING crimes.
So Oily McLawerson is the mutual target/protectorate of Jessica and Matt, respectively. Is it wrong that, considering the mutual subject, I'm kinda rooting for Jessica?
So the kitchen/backstage staff don't notice two Japanese guys who look like tourists carrying around their suitcases?
The whole "damsel in distress" thing seems a little too pat. It was great that she's named Hope, though. :-)
I get the feeling that this is Matt's first time bodyguarding. And considering his recent track record, it's going to go horribly, horribly wrong, isn't it?
I found the Mohinder Montage of Failure incredibly funny, for some reason. I wonder what this Zane character's power is?
I know it's just because he has a raging case of the hornies, but Ando is trying to be heroic and it looks good on him. Turning around the dynamic between him and Hiro is a nice scenario.
Hmm. Hope got businesslike really quick after her little breakdown. She's too good to be true, isn't she?
::snerk:: The old room service trick is an oldie but goodie. They have the name tags and everything!
HA! I *love* Ando turning Hiro's words back on him. He's also a bit craftier than Hiro. Only a bit, though. It's like watching a comedy of errors whenever he's by himself.
Okay, so Zane's freaking out. The plastic sheeting everywhere and the puddles on the ground seem to imply that he has some kind of water-based power. Maybe he can spontaneously condense it out of the air and can't control it yet? Kinda like how Radioactive Ted couldn't/still can't control his rad output.
Aww, crap. I guess we don't have to worry about Zane for too much longer. But maybe he can suck the water out of Sylar's body and become a hero for killing the first super serial killer? (Jessica's the second, remember, and besides, Sylar has a pattern of targets whereas Jessica's just psycho violent).
Okay, I can see Mama "Cold as ice" Petrelli's point, but she really is a stone-cold bitch, isn't she? And calling Nathan a soft-hearted sap? She's basically saying that Nathan and Peter are just the same, which is effectively a damning insult for that family.
So Papa Bennet is keeping more watchful tabs on Claire. Unless he just checked out her story after the whole "Sylar attacks" incident. That "you're not my father" jab seemed new for them, though, which indicates a lot about how their dynamic is changing. That whole "earning back our trust" thing cuts both ways now.
Firemommy is really hesitant to let Claire and Nathan meet. Guess that extortion thing is a little more complicated than she anticipated.
As an aside: I really like the background music on this show. This "Diamond Killings" theme is really nice. Cutting into it with the elevator music version of it was kinda cute, too.
You know what Jessica reminds me of? Some feral animal like a wolf or lioness; something designed to hunt for its prey.
::sigh:: Yup. Hope's act really was too good to be true. That punch looked really hard. Also, hee! The Sulu gag was a hilarious callback to Hiro's dad. I love how this show tosses in those little nerdy touches.
I expected Matt and Oily McLawyerson to take the stairs, as it was only logical, but I would've reccommended going up, since that's the glaringly obvious escape route and therefore the one that Jessica would go chasing down. Heck, going up even one flight and then calling for backup would be an effective strategy.
Jessica's not as in control of Niki as she thinks she is. I think it's cool (though expected) that Matt could "hear" both of them. And finally, Matt's showing that he can think of using distractions.
Jessica is intrigued by Matt's knowledge of Niki. Not that she's not going to exploit it, but I suspect that she or Niki is going to seek out Matt at a latter point.
Wait. Isn't that a different dress that Jessica was wearing just a second ago? ::rewind rewind:: Oh. It's just a different fabric on the back than on the front. More symbolism, though nicely subtle.
I have to say, the whole "battle between 2 supers" thing was kinda anticlimactic. Matt got his ass handed to him but good. And I know that Kring said that mroe heroes would die: is Matt the next one? That would be one way to end the incredibly tedious Matt And Mrs. Matt Marital Woes storyline.
Okay, so Matt isn't dead. Yet. Let's just see what banana peel life has in store for him next.
Claire is increasingly desperate to find someone to trust and keep as family, what with Papa Bennet being a proven liar and Mama Bennet going crazy. And now she's losing faith in Firemommy and Nathan, just as she found them.
I get the feeling that Firemommy does care for Claire, sorta, but more like a distant relative than a daughter. Only to be expected, considering that she thought Claire was dead until yesterday(?).
So Jessica ripped Oily McLawyerson in half. That kinda seems to be her M.O., doesn't it?
Those puddles look... odd. And I wonder why Sylar is pretending to be Zane, even down to dressing like him. The psychotic OCD he displayed from the very first, I guess.
Liquefaction of solid objects? SO. COOL. Or is it only metal? It looked like the cord to the toaster didn't melt along with the rest of it.
Two different worlds: air and fire. Not quite opposing elements, but dissimilar enough that their relationship would've consumed itself and burned out quickly.
Poor Claire. :-( She is so gonna confront Nathan when he leaves and introduce herself, isn't she?
Oh, Claire. Don't run away! Run towards!
Okay, so it seems that the liqufaction ability affects things other than metal as well. The material solidifies again pretty quickly, though.
Whoa. Sylar actually dressed Zane in the clothes he was wearing when he came in. And the blood is on them, not Zane's (the stuff Sylar is currently wearing).
Sylar is having a power-gasm just thinking about all the supers Mohinder is going to lead him to. The ticking in the background is, as usual, a great touch.
It says a lot about Ando that he believes that Hiro would ever leave him behind.
Considering that Matt was thrown out a window and Oily McLawyerson was ripped in half, I don't see why Brown Coat Cop is so skeptical of Matt's story.
No, Matt, no! Don't go over to the dark side! ::sigh:: I guess that was the final straw that totally defeated his sense of fair play. :-(
Oh, no. Poor, poor Mama Bennet. She's finally, finally lost everything. And so has Claire. :-(
Hmm. Two questions: 1) Can Micah "overhear" Jessica on the cell phone with his technopathy? and 2) Would Jessica even be able to catch Nathan, much less kill him? Dude can go supersonic, after all.
Next: Dunno. NBC doesn't have the previews attached to the current episode online.
