As you might have guessed from the title of this entry, I just got back from seeing Serenity.
I really liked it. The primary characterization focussed on Mal and River, but you still got a good sketch impression of the others. The acting was wonderful, the effects were wonderful, the score was wonderful and the plot was wonderful. In short: wonderful.
One of the things I liked best (aside from River's tableau at the end, you know the one I mean) was the very deliberate evocation of classic Westerns. The edge-of-civilisation feeling, the rough-and-ready(-and desperate) survivors, the imperfect antagonists doing the best they can. I really do believe that this movie may convince one of the Big 3 to re-commission Firefly. I hope so, anyway.
