drewbearWhat. The. HELL!! Is going on with gas prices?!
Saturday, the Tom Thumb gas station near me was $2.48 for the cheapest. Today, 5 days later, it's $2.61! How in the world can gas prices jump 13 cents in 5 days? HOW?!
EDIT: I just discovered this handy-dandy official governmental tracking of gas prices for the past 2 years: Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Update. Using that data, regular gasoline prices for the entire nation have gone up 7.69% in the last week and 36.00% over the last year! And locally, using the Gulf Coast numbers since that's the closest region to me, gas prices have gone up 9.03% in the last week and 39.54% in the last year!
According to this, we're actually matching and/or beating the price (adjusted for inflation) of gas during the energy crisis in the late Seventies!
