Rebellious Notions
Aug. 18th, 2008 06:09 pmSo
ginmar posted this list of "Alternate Rebellion" that was given to her at a support group for women at the VA. It's basically this list from DBT Self Help and is disturbingly passive-agressive or outright pointless. Even the "active" ones are pretty useless since they're so vague. Shit like "Wallow in creativity", "Get a butterfly tattoo" (!), and "Kiss your dog on the lips".
So I decided to come up with some REAL ways to constructively rebel.
What can y'all think up to add to this?

So I decided to come up with some REAL ways to constructively rebel.
- Be angry. Focus and use that anger against those who've caused it instead of whoever is closest at the time.
- Be uncomfortable. Rebellion begins in the head and the heart.
- Be honest with yourself.
- Don't back down.
- Call people out on their shit.
- Think before doing.
- Challenge yourself and others to be more than they are.
- Pay attention to how people say things as much as what they say.
- Don't be afraid to help if you can.
- Don't be afraid to say "no" if you can't.
- Don't be afraid to say "no", period.
- Find a goal and work towards it.
- Ignore people who say that you can't do it.
What can y'all think up to add to this?
