Well. Yesterday's theme was thievery.

We normally close the office at noon on Fridays, so that we can all run errands and whatnot. Well, about 1, my dad got an "emergency" call from an old patient wanting to come in and get some medicine. The same patient that we're fairly sure was the one who broke in several years ago and robbed us. So Dad called me and asked me to join him at the office at 3 to "treat" this drug-seeker. Well, it turns out that it was generally unnecessary, as we were hit with an intense thunderstorm system that ran through from about 1:30 to 3:30 that knocked out the power. (Seriously. At one point it was coming down so hard that I couldn't see the nose of the car) So when whassisname called asking if he could come in later, we informed him that we couldn't see him and gave him the name of a couple of other docs, who we then immediately called and warned.

Now for the other half of the theme.

Since we closed at noon, I was at home futzing around online when the cable connection went out at about 1:15. Because the aforementioned storm system blew in immediately after that, I assumed that it had something to do with that. Y'know, the cable transmission tower got hit or something. So I called Comcast about it and got an appointment for a tech to come out... in 5 days. Yippee freaking skippee.

So, long story short, after multiple hours talking with Comcast phone jockeys about getting someone out here sooner and actually looking up the numbers for the BBB to complain, Terry (the roommate) goes out to the cable box and finds that A) our connection has been physically disconnected, and B) the upstairs neighbors suddenly aren't. Yes, the floor-stomping keepers of large dogs neighbors had stolen our cable. Our extremely basic, less than a dozen channels, only have it for the net connection cable. So we called the cops and got the cable restored at about 11:30.

Sometimes I hate people, y'know?

First of all, yes, the cops were called last night. If they ask us, I/we will be pressing charges. We're also reporting this to the apartment manager and hopefully the bastards will get evicted.

Secondly, when the cable was reconnected, apparently there was a slight error. As in, we now have full cable access instead of the Extremely Basic Cable (TM) that we had before. I ain't complaining, and if/when they correct it, I'm not saying a word.
