May. 26th, 2005 07:13 pmA couple of things today:
As several of you know, I've recently become interested in Alternate Reality Gaming (ARGing), which tries to blur the line between gaming and the real world by doing such things as mailing things to the participants, calling them, possibly meeting them in the real world, etc.
However, at least in the ones I'm currently participating in, many of the data encryption methods are so common that it's possible for a small group to solve a puzzle in less than half an hour. As such, I've been experimenting in different ways to encode information to direct people to the next clue in the path. The current result is here: Not An ARG. Feel free to try it and let me know what you think.
Next, I've also recently stumbled across Post Secret, an art project wherein people write down a personal secret on a postcard and anonymously mail it in to the archivist for potential display. They range from humorous to touching to frightening to wistful and all of them are frighteningly familiar in the emotions they represent.
