Jul. 26th, 2004 04:39 pmDay 2 of Mission: Organize continues. (Yes, I know that Saturday was day 1, I didn't get anything done yesterday, alright?)
The shelves are up and filling, I'm currently on my third bag of garbage, and there's a significant amount of clear floor visible. I'm on a roll, baby!
Yesterday I went to The Cheesecake Factory in Dallas for brunch with the bear group. The food was very good, but I was too full to have any cheesecake. Kinda defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Anyway, a couple of the guys there told me that the Dallas Summer Musicals at Fair Park were presenting "Big River", a musical based on Mark Twain's "Huckleberry Finn". When I got home, I checked online for seat availability and got a cheap-o ticket (less than $20, which is pretty fuggin' cheap for Ticketmaster). The show was enjoyable, but the sound was muddy. This did not help the clarity of the actors' accents at all. Interestingly, the musical was simultaneously translated by the actors in ASL (American Sign Language) and several of the main characters were played by deaf actors. After the first song, the signing became "background" to me (as a non-deaf audience member) and just seemed like choreography. The exceptions were during 2 of the songs, when the last refrains were performed solely in ASL. No music, no singing. Pretty cool, overall.
Oh well, back to the trenches. Hopefully I'll be all done save the vacuuming by Wednesday. Then I need to see whether I can afford a new, larger bed. *le sigh*
