furrbear's gracious prescence last night, my computer woes continue. Remember that new computer I bought on Tuesday? Well, I finally got around to unpacking today with the intent of cannabilizing parts from the old computer (the one current in service). Weeeell, that didn't quite happen. I can't directly transfer my current hard drives because neither has the drivers for the new motherboard on them, and the new comp is preloaded with Linspire, a lindows derivative. So I tried putting my XP-loaded hard drive into slave behind the lindows one. The problem is that I have next to no experience with linux, and that was many, many moons ago in any case, and I can't figure out how to find my (now) secondary drive!
So, after many hours of cannabilizing, testing, loading, reloading, unloading, etc... I put my original system back together. ::sigh:: This is incredibly frustrating. If I can't make this happen tomorrow evening, I think I'm gonna take the new system back for a refund.
