This weekend was an odd mixture of eventful and slow. Not in a bad way, mind you, just a strange way.
Saturday I went to the Dallas Bears' monthly meeting, which was focussed almost entirely on TBRU next weekend. Big surprise, huh? I did find out something neat, tho; apparently one of the grand prizes for the raffle going on all weekend is a week-long stay at a condo in Hawaii! With luck, I might be able to scratch my travel urge after all! I also put my name down to volunteer if needed at the information desk Thursday afternoon. If I end up working it, I'll get a $20 refund after the event is over, which is a nice way to defray some of my costs, ne?
Sunday was my sister Katie's birthday, so we all went to see
Tosca at Bass Hall. The staging was only so-so, but the singers playing Scarpia and Floria Tosca were (in my un-opera-educated ear) very good. Afterwards, we had dinner at On the Border (mistake: horribly inexperienced waiter) and went over the the parents' house to play Constructionary. Constructionary, for those of you who haven't heard of it (and I expect that everyone), is like Pictionary, only using legos instead of a pad and pencil. Once we got the hang of it, it was remarkably fun. At one point or another, we were all doubled over from laughing so hard. 8-)
Tomorrow I need to head down to the newspaper office to submit ads for a new roommate and to sell my old Saturn. I also need to start exercising, even if it's only walking, since I noticed that I can fully button almost none of my dress shirts, including the ones I bought less than a year ago. This is unacceptable.
BTW:
aadroma?
booboobob and I are going to the Fort Worth Science Museum Friday. Would you and Carl be interested in going as well?
