So I just saw Prince Caspian and I have one question:

Why did no one tell me the Talmareans were so fucking hot?! I mean, really! It's like someone in casting said "Okay, find me the most astoundingly, unbelievably attractive Spaniards you can find. Beards are a plus."

Also, spoilers ahoy! )

So there's a new comic shop that opened near here about a month ago. Yesterday I decided to go check it out and see what it's like and if they stock any of the indie comics I like but can't find at the other stores around here.

Well, they didn't have the comic I was looking for, but it was on their order list for January, so I'm glad about that. They also have a very impressive backstock of comics, which they bought from a store that went defunct in New Jersey when the original owner/operator died and his heirs were uninterested in keeping the store open.

I talked with the guys who run the store (Billy & Church) for about 90 minutes and they seem like really nice guys. They're also trying to establish the store as more than just a comics shop, but also as a geek hangout and gaming spot. They have several TVs mounted on the walls (set on SciFi Channel when I was there) and mentioned getting an Xbox hooked up soon. All-in-all, I'm really hoping that they do well, since they seem like good people.

Oh, and did I mention that both of them are fucking hot? Billy especially? No? Okay, then. ;-)

Hmm... I think I'm gonna go out to one of the bars tonight. Only for a coupla hours max, tho; I've got work in the morning.

This is apparently a spoof of a Paris Hilton commercial, only starring a rather large and hairy guy in her place. It's very funny.

TBRU was very fun and I'm quite glad that I went. I *finally* met a lot of LJers in person, including (but not limited to) [livejournal.com profile] booboobob, [livejournal.com profile] aadroma, [livejournal.com profile] nytemarewulf, [livejournal.com profile] dedos, [livejournal.com profile] leiny and [livejournal.com profile] kendallrants (aka [livejournal.com profile] thereisnofear).

But now I am tired and need sleep. I sall attain said sleep now. Good night!

This weekend was an odd mixture of eventful and slow. Not in a bad way, mind you, just a strange way.

Saturday I went to the Dallas Bears' monthly meeting, which was focussed almost entirely on TBRU next weekend. Big surprise, huh? I did find out something neat, tho; apparently one of the grand prizes for the raffle going on all weekend is a week-long stay at a condo in Hawaii! With luck, I might be able to scratch my travel urge after all! I also put my name down to volunteer if needed at the information desk Thursday afternoon. If I end up working it, I'll get a $20 refund after the event is over, which is a nice way to defray some of my costs, ne?

Sunday was my sister Katie's birthday, so we all went to see Tosca at Bass Hall. The staging was only so-so, but the singers playing Scarpia and Floria Tosca were (in my un-opera-educated ear) very good. Afterwards, we had dinner at On the Border (mistake: horribly inexperienced waiter) and went over the the parents' house to play Constructionary. Constructionary, for those of you who haven't heard of it (and I expect that everyone), is like Pictionary, only using legos instead of a pad and pencil. Once we got the hang of it, it was remarkably fun. At one point or another, we were all doubled over from laughing so hard. 8-)

Tomorrow I need to head down to the newspaper office to submit ads for a new roommate and to sell my old Saturn. I also need to start exercising, even if it's only walking, since I noticed that I can fully button almost none of my dress shirts, including the ones I bought less than a year ago. This is unacceptable.

BTW: [livejournal.com profile] aadroma? [livejournal.com profile] booboobob and I are going to the Fort Worth Science Museum Friday. Would you and Carl be interested in going as well?
