(no subject)

So I only got about 5 hours of sleep last night. Anyone want to guess why? Because my CPAP machine died utterly? DINGDINGDINGDING YOU'RE RIGHT!

*sigh* That's another couple of hundred dollars to spend that I don't have. Shit.

The online retailer I use has their call center open on Saturdays, so as soon as they open I'm calling in to see about ordering a new one, as well as delivery times. What with the holiday, I might have to pay for upgraded shipping, unless I don't mind getting my package sometime next weekend. (Hint: I do mind)

Can we help? Had no idea you were having problems. Will your insurance cover any of the cost? Love you, MOM

Actually, it's all good now. A friend of mine had a CPAP that he'd been regifted and never used (at last count, this thing's had 4 owners, including me, but only been used by 2, including me) it's essentially the same model as what I had, so all the parts I already have fit, and it works well.

That's great. Did it not fit the others, or did they have a problem with using the mask? More and more people are being prescribed C-paps for snoring and sleep apnea. But a lot of them can't tolerate the mask and don't use their machines. Your Dad just read an article in Time about overweight people becoming the new smokers, as far as discrimination is concerned and extra taxes will be put on foods with sugar or fat in them.

I honestly have no idea why it wasn't used by the last couple of owners. And yeah, my insurance recently changed so that smokers and fat people have to either pay more or drop to a lower plan unless they can show that they're on a doctor-assigned/approved/monitored plan to quit smoking or lose weight.

The greedy bastards! When are the health police going to crack down on angry, aggressive drivers (they and DWIs kill between 40K-50K a year), marijuana smokers (carcinogens), alcoholics (see the failure of Prohibition in the 20th century), tanning addicts (skin cancer), anorexics and bulemics (Oh, I forgot, that's fashionable), pet owners and poor housekeepers (asthma), and teaching children to read (causes myopia and gives them unhealthy "ideas")! Your pissed off Dad.

Well, everyone "knows" that being fat is both contagious and the only reason that people get sick. So obviously fat people are going to use up all the healthcare, which is going to make insurance premiums go up for the non-fat "healthy" people. Can't have that. Instead, we need to pile shame, humiliation and FEWER options for healthcare on those disgusting fatties until they're not so disgusting.
