Well, I'm back!

The drives down & back up were interminable, as usual, but nothing unbearable. Due to heavy rain and an accident on the highway, it took 8 hours to get down there and we rolled into the motel at 7:30. We were really glad that we decided to go on Friday instead of Saturday morning, as driving up that morning would've been stressful and maddening. As a side note, I experienced something new Friday night: my CPAP tube flooded. I forgot to adjust my built-in humidifier to account for the naturally high humidity, and my mother had turned the AC onto "glacial" in an attempt to mitigate the humidity, so I had a massive amount of condensation. I woke up twice during the night to pour the water back into the reservoir.

Saturday, Sara, Mikey, Katie and I went to the "Lord of the Rings" exhibit at the Houston science museum and thoroughly enjoyed it. They had conceptual artwork, original models, full original costumes and props and some live examples of how some of the CG effects were made, including the motion capture and size-modifiers. If you have a chance to go to the exhibit, I highly reccommend it.

The wedding was yesterday evening and it was... okay. The ceremony was generic and very short (les than 30 minutes, including processional and recessional) and it was outside, in the heat and humidity. Emily's (my cousin) dress was spectacular, however, as were the bridesmaids dresses and the groomsmen's tuxedos (I never got close enough to the groom to see his tux). As for the reception, I particularly enjoyed the white chocolate fountain that they had. I had no idea that chocolate covered potato chips could be so good. Overall, I probably enjoyed the reception best for the opportunity to visit with all the extended Wallace family. We rarely get to see them, and several were unable to make it to Sara's wedding back in April.

This morning was generally uneventful. We spent a few hours visiting some more with my grandparents our blood-aunts and a few of the cousins, then set out back for home. Amazing how, without rain or bad traffic, the trip only took 5.5 hours.

P.S. I finished Half-Blood Prince during the drives. Let's just say that there are several things I'm upset about.
