Well, the cable guy has come and gone, and I'm currently writing this via cable modem. :-) The only problem is that I'm having trouble getting it to recognize the router, so I'm directly connected to the cable modem instead of allowing access for my roommate as well. Of course, he's away at work until this evening, so I have time to figure it out.

EDIT: ...or not. He worked a short shift today, and I'm tired of trying to fix the modem/router issue for the last 4 hours. So I'm reconnecting us back to the DSL for now and I'll continue with the cable tomorrow.

Well, John (furrbear) and his hubby David were nice enough to come over and fix the cable weirdness. It turns out that the problem was that John's psychic abilities weren't there before. I'm not kidding: he showed up, sat down at the computer, and the router suddenly works fine with the cable modem. o_O
