::ahem:: Now that that's out of the way, allow me to bitch a little bit out road closures and the resultant traffic.
I went over to Dallas this morning for the monthly Dallas Bears meeting, and after having a late lunch with some of the guys, started home a little before 3:00 PM. I got onto I-30 (the main highway between Dallas and Ft. Worth, and generally the best way to get to Arlington) without troubles. This was to lull the drivers into a sense of false security. Right after the last exit for umpteen miles, the traffic started. Parking-lot style traffic. Now, I was thinking that this would be over soon, maybe a mile backup, y'know, the usual.
It took 1 hour and 15 minutes to travel 6.5 miles. I had plenty of time to note the exact numbers. It turned out that there was a *massive* wreck/accident of some sort, so bad that they had to close the interstate and divert traffic to a feeder road. Unfortunately, there was only one exit (that I noticed) between the accident site and where I entered the traffic, so no-one could get off to partially relieve the congestion. What's really sad is that after I cleared the accident-site, I drove the remaining 22 miles home in about 15 minutes.
::sigh:: Such is life. I go sleep now in preparation for the coming morning. Keep me in your thoughts until my safe return!
