There's an outdoor sculpture installation at the Modern Art museum in Fort Worth called "The Vortex". The artist designed the 35-40 foot tall thing of shaped steel plates. The neat thing is that you can walk inside it, where it's (by design) an amazing echo chamber. The acoustics are freakin' perfect!

(heeeeere point, c'mon boy, come to papa)

So today my family went and had lunch at the Kimbell Art Museum, which is right next door to the Modern, and after going through the galleries, we went out to the Vortex for some fun. The rest of my family's played with it before when I wasn't with them, and discovered that it's great for singing. Today, both my sisters sang some beautiful (short) pieces, and the echoes made them each sound like a full chorus. Then, for kicks, I got us started on a rondelay of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat". We actually got a couple of other people singing along. It was fun.
