Jericho 1.9: Crossroads
Previously: Bomb (no, really?)! Bartender Mistress! Coughing Disease! Ravenwood! Real Doctor!
We're starting off with a flashback? Okaaaaay.. No, wait, it's a dream/fantasy sequence. Emily's actually broke-up about her missing fiance. Wish she would actually show it when she's awake.
So Ravenwood is stealing gas from the Richmonds. Very not surprised. Good to see that Stanley's not spilling his guts.
I swear, Jake is the only person in town who actually looks like he's been through a disaster.
I can totally understand why the entire extended Richmod group would come into town rather than leaving one or two behind to be victim to the mercs, but why did they wait so long? And where have the Ravenwood mercs been that entire time?
Jake, you think that Ravenwood is coming for "everything" because of your encounter in Rogue River. I get that. But your group were the one who started shooting first. Not to mention that you got all your info about that particular bunch from a self-admitted Lying Liar Who Lies merc.
"Vulnerable points"? "Borders"? "BRIDGE?!?!" They're. In. The middle. Of. KANSAS! The state is flat as a freakin' board!
::sigh:: So now we have the competing secrets of the April/Eric/Mary triangle. Lovely.
Competing Mysterious Strangers Of Doom!!! And you cannot believe how shocked I was when Jake made a good suggestion: "Let's stop screwing around and get it done."
Umm, Heather? Bringing a wedding bouquet, no matter how crappy, to a woman who's fiance isn't there on their wedding day may not be the smartest of moves.
Hawkins pretty consistently wins those square-offs between him and Jake, doesn't he?
Wow. Eric actually told April that he loved Mary and not her. I'm... impressed. I would've thought that they'd drag that particular story-line out a bit longer.
How, exactly, did they not spot the merc humvees before they got that close? Again, Kansas is flat. They should've spotted it at least a mile off.
Lovely. The accidental gunshot starts it all. Why am I not surprised. And that whole "you have 4 hours" thing was pretty obviously a merc move, not a governmental one. I'm also peeved that nobody on either side brought up the possibility of verification that Ravenwood was working for the government.
Nice to see some acknowledgement that gun nuts exist in Jericho. And that Eric points out that there are other ways into Jericho. I guess that once he finally grew a spine and told April about his affair, he decided to use it elsewhere too.
::snerk:: Oh, I love how Heather didn't even think that keeping the truck from going bad was less trouble than shopping at Gracie's.
Tired of Emily's dream-sequences. They're so very not fitting with the rest of what's going on.
Jesus, Jake, make up your fucking mind. You didn't give a shit about the people on the other side of the bridge when you wanted to blow the bridge, so why do you care now?
And they're addressing the loss of luxury consumables too. Good. And hey! Doctor Foreigner is getting good and drunk!
I'm honestly not sure why everyone is so sure that Ravenwood is going to loot and pillage, rape and kill and burn their way across the countryside. Aside from the beginnings of some xenophobia, exacerbated by Jake and Hawkins.
You can't force Bonnie to leave? Actually, yes you can Stanley. And the Richmond parents died years and years ago? I thought that they died recently, leaving Stanley to try to pick up the reins, which is what led to the IRS audit. Damn continuity goofs.
Wow, Paranoid Cop folds but easy, doesn't he? And Gray apparently likes stirring shit.
Wait, if Mayor Dad was too sick to get out of bed last night, the antibiotics wouldn't work quickly enough to allow him to walk that soon. It's interesting how Mayor Dad immediately thought of Jake as the one to "fix" things, though. Eric really is the other son from the prodigal story, isn't he?
Jake really is a pompous little shit who thinks he knows best, no matter what. Hawkins called it when he said that Jake didn't know his own limits (paraphrased).
Wow, even hallucination Heather is delightfully snarky. Too bad that she was channelling Emily's desire to start up a second and equally unnecessary love triangle for the show.
Okay, Suicide Bomber Jake's little stand-off is significant;y reminiscent of Tianemen Square, isn't it. And a deadman switch is actually the best way to handle this little thing. Too bad Hawkins had to go and start sniping. Probably not the best move, you think?
Wow. Someone actually thought to go recruit the (Ass) Bandits. Good for you, Eric!
Veiled threat, much?
I'm really surprised that no-one punched anyone else in that post-not-blowing-up scene.
I think everyone knows what's tying Emily to Jericho. She LUUUUUURVES Jake, of course.
Ah... the patented Johnston Green Speech Of Significance. I guess he actually IS feeling better.
How did Bonnie hear Mimi call out? She's deaf, remember?
Considering how self-important and self-righteous Jake is, is he really the best choice to head the new JerichoSecret Police Security Force?
I guess Mama Green really wants that grandbaby, huh?
Aww... another uninteresting Emily scene! How wonderful!
And hallucination Jake is a pretty big asshole, moving in on the woman whose fiance is mourning for her presumably dead fiance, isn't he?
Next week: Almost the end of the mini-season! Someone significant dies! Probably!
